The New York Times – In discussions with Democratic delegates and other party members about supporting her for the presidential nomination, Vice President Kamala Harris and her staff are highlighting Ms. Harris’s prosecutorial experience and advocacy for abortion rights, according to a document reviewed by The New York Times that is being used to outline those conversations.
Ms. Harris is the party’s “leading messenger” on abortion rights, according to the document, and will make certain that former President Donald J. Trump’s role in overturning the landmark Roe v. Wade decision “is front and center in this election.”
The document also reminds delegates of Ms. Harris’s experience as a district attorney in San Francisco and as the attorney general of California.
“Her work as a prosecutor makes her the ultimate contrast to Trump, the convicted felon,” it states.
The talking points also reassure delegates of Ms. Harris’s ability to harness enthusiasm with the “next generation” of party voters. At 59, she is notably younger than both President Biden and Mr. Trump.

Ms. Harris “can make the issue of age and fitness a liability for Trump,” the document states.
The document emphasizes Ms. Harris’s overseas travels as vice president, suggesting she is prepared to tackle nettlesome national security issues as president. Ms. Harris has visited “more than 20 countries,” the document states, and met with “over 150 world leaders.”
These travels and interactions, it adds, would allow her to govern as president “with more significant national security experience than any of the four presidents prior to President Biden.”
The document also notes that the vice president is prepared to “earn and win” the Democratic nomination, something she has also said publicly.
