SECURITY WEEK – Sandwich chain Subway has launched an investigation after the notorious LockBit ransomware group claimed over the weekend that it hacked into the company’s systems and stole vast amounts of information.
“The biggest sandwich chain is pretending that nothing happened,” the LockBit gang said in a message posted on its website.
“We exfiltrated their SUBS internal system which includes hundreds of gigabytes of data and all financial expects of the franchise, including employee salaries, franchise royalty payments, master franchise commission payments, restaurant turnovers etc.”
“We are exploring the validity of the claim,” a Subway spokesperson told SecurityWeek via email.

I went to Subway an ordered a ham sandwich, with Italian herbs and cheese. I got everything on it. (Mayo, lettuce, tom, cucumber, red onions, spinach, green peppers, black olives and mild peppers.
An hour after I ate it, my stomach aches so bad. Went to the toilet at least 10 times, over the course of 8 hrs. If it isn’t better in the morning, I’m going to the ER. This has to be stomach poisoning.

2. City of chicago food service sanitation certificate
– comments: observed no certified food manager on duty while tcs foods are being prepared, handled and served such as (lunchmeat, sandwiches, soups etc) must be on site at all times. Priority foundation 7-38-012. Citation issued.
22. Proper cold holding temperatures
– comments: observed tcs foods held at improper internal temperatures in the walk-in cooler, such as 3lbs of chicken at 49. 1f and 3lbs of turkey at 49. 5f. The manager discarded and denatured a total of 6lbs at $50. All cold tcs food must maintain 41f or below. Priority violation. Citation issued 7-38-005.
33. Proper cooling methods used; adequate equipment for temperature control
– comments: the walk-in cooler did not maintain the proper temperature. Observed to be 50f. Instructed manager to repair and maintain cooler at 41f or below. The prep cooler is tagged held for inspection and must not be used until reinspected by the chicago department of health. Priority violation 7-38-005. Citation issued.
57. All food employees have food handler training
– comments: unable to provide food handler training certificates for all current food handlers. Instructed management that all employees who handle or prepare food must complete training. Must provide.
